Atha is the first word in the Yoga Sutras, the main philosophical text sharing the wisdom of this practice.
Atha Means, “Now” - an invitation to presence and practice.
It calls us into the present moment to peace and the opportunity to practice skillfulness. It reminds us that the practice is a continuous journey and there’s always an opportunity to begin and to begin again.
Atha also means “and, then” and is a thank you to all the teachers who came before us.
This practice has been passed down from teacher to student for thousands of years. I feel honored and humbled each time I have the opportunity to share what’s been shared with me. Synthesized through my commitment to this practice and yoga’s perspective, I am on the journey with you -we are all connected. My style of asana (physical) practice is Hatha-Vinyasa; a mindful flow. It’s accessible and adaptable so you can practice at any age and ability. An infusion of my dance background and study also influences my class by offering creative sequencing, music that flows with the movement, and improvisational invitations within the flow.
Atha points to auspicious beginnings. When we say yes, the universe rises to meet us.
Thank you for saying yes and being here, now. I’m glad to be on this journey together.
Love, Danielle
